Towering Lies (Requiem for Ground Zero)
Why
is your inner eye so firmly closed to
try
To see the truth concealed behind the
lie
The tangled web which weaves itself
around you
Will
you open up your heart and
realise
That life's too short a space to
fantasise
In a world that's torn apart with bombs
and crying dying
Do you always believe
All the bullshit that you're told?
Won't you please seek the truth
You can watch it unfold
Like a flower in the Spring
Taking root in your soul
May your ignorance fade
And your sight be made whole
When
our minds and thoughts are twisted by the
men
Who only seek to kill and to
condemn
The light of love will fade and darkness
reign
What
if those two towers which coldly tumbled
down
Were really made to crumple to the
ground
By those we gave the power to
protect them
Refrain
When
with clever words they make us all
afraid
Just so their iron rule will be
obeyed
Collaborators we become
beside them
How
can human beings turn to acts of
war
When only friendship like a bird should
soar
To heaven and back on angels' wingéd
arms
Refrain
When
Your bitter thinking finally turns to
dust
Your sword instead of thinking how to
thrust
Will cut an opening through the walls
inside us...
Who
is bold enough to take the fearless
stride
No more to fix your frozen gaze and
hide
The future of this fragile world
demands it
Refrain
