there's a fire in the attic
there's a fire in the hall
and the restless heart within you
is a stone's throw from the wall
there a hailstorm in the window
there's a torrent in your soul
and the fat cats in the corridor
are looking for the hole
there's thunder in the chimney
there's a desert in the bed
and all the strength has drained from you
through something that you said
there's a typhoon in the windmill
an iceflow in the bay
a plot to tie your laces up
and take your toys away
searching for the answer
and finding what you asked
is only making waves for you
and vipers in the grass
heartache on the inside
shattered hope without
keeping all the parts in one
is what it's all about
so you tell the captain seriously
to walk you from the plank
but someone threw some poison in
the well from which you drank
you can see yourself in aspic
as you fight against the sound
of the leeches making headway
in the portals underground
as you journey through the basement
startled by the light
a voice appears to say to you
it's time to quit the fight
you try to piece the jigsaw
and grasp the truth at last
but it's only in the moving on
that you understand what's past
searching for the answer
and finding what you asked
is only making waves for you
and vipers in the grass
heartache on the inside
shattered hope without
keeping all the parts in one
is what it's all about
